Elizabeth
Hi, my name is Elizabeth. Since becoming part of ChooseWell Communities, I have achieved numerous accredited skills and experience for my resume such as obtaining a certification as an adult peer support specialist, being trained as a free play facilitator, and gaining experience utilizing my organizational skills for party/program planning. I have had the financial opportunity to retrieve my student loans out of default so I can further my education.
Currently, I am a sophomore at Jefferson Community & Technical College working on my Associate's of Science degree, in preparation to transfer to the University of Louisville for my Bachelor's in Biology. I have been extremely supported through my custody court cases to reunify with my kids. ChooseWell has given me the opportunity to build a support group of the most incredible and strong women that I like to call my 'sisters.' Additionally, I have been able to build a support group for my kids filled with other kids who have been affected by their parent's battle with addiction. Some of my favorite memories with ChooseWell are free play days, chop n' chats, and building relationships with really awesome people!
My advice for other parents struggling with recovery would be to find what drives you. Set goals. Sometimes, the plan may change, but never change the goal. Use what drives you, and keep moving forward. All things are possible when you're sober and have faith in a higher power. I love you all!
