Nisey
My name is Nisey & I'm an alcoholic. My sobriety date is October 6, 2016. Since that day, I've been given more blessings than I ever thought I deserved. I've also been blessed to be a part of ChooseWell just as long.
Since being involved with ChooseWell, my husband (then fiancé) & I were able to regain full custody of our now 4 & 10-year-old children after a looooong 18 months. One of the first things on our case plan list was to obtain stable housing, and ChooseWell secured us with a Louisville Jefferson County Metro Housing Authority-Louisville Metro Section 8 voucher. Without this resource, it would have taken us months to save for an apartment. ChooseWell also connected us with a job with a recovery-minded employer, FMS, pbc, to be able to provide for our family. This allowed me to stay home that first year our boys were back with us, which -to me- was crucial because I needed to be able to build that bond back with them.
When my husband & I were freshly sober, we hit a rocky patch in our relationship. ChooseWell connected my family with a therapy provider, which strengthened & unified my family & led to my husband & I's marriage. After a year of being a stay at home mom, I got a part-time job & we began saving & being financially disciplined enough to where we could purchase a nice, new car.
Since then, we have been off all government assistance for almost two years, which was our goal - to one day be able to live with out any assistance & be fully self-supporting! We have been working on our credit & are looking to become homeowners within a year. All of this wouldn't be possible w/o the support, resources & most importantly, LOVE that my family has received from ChooseWell Communities.
My favorite memory being apart of ChooseWell is the Friday programming. Women chit-chatting & beautiful little babies running around! Being able to meet up every week with families who you love & who are going through similar life experiences to chat, vent, cry or whatever with. It's awesome to know that I have that love every week! Thank you so much for everything you have done for my family!!
